Why learn the piano with Tommy Scott?
I have taught piano since 2004, and I still work as a pianist — you can hear me at Duc des Lombards, Sunset-Sunside and 38Riv. I teach what I actually play.
You will play from the first lesson. Most people who give up piano do so because the theory piles up before the music arrives, and because practising starts to feel like homework they have not done. My students tell me the lessons are relaxed and encouraging. You do not need to practise an hour a day for this to be worth it.
I teach adults who are starting from nothing, adults coming back to the piano after years away, motivated children from age 8, and experienced players who want to get inside jazz. Jazz and improvisation, classical technique, and ABRSM preparation — the lesson adapts to what you want to play.

I teach a small number of students. I currently have room for two.
How the first lesson works
1. Tell me what you want to play. A message or a call — what you are hoping for, and when you can come.
2. Your first lesson, €30. A full hour, not a consultation. I will send you what we are going to cover beforehand.
3. A short written plan. After the lesson, I will send you a plan for where to go next — whether or not you decide to continue.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need my own piano?
For lessons at mine, no. For lessons at your home or online, a keyboard with weighted keys is fine to start — I can suggest affordable options. We can talk about a better instrument once you know you are going to keep going.I have never played anything. Can I still learn?
Yes — that is most of who I teach. You are not too old to start, and you will be playing music in the first lesson rather than working through exercises. How much do I need to practise?
Less than you think. Twenty minutes most days will move you forward faster than an hour once a week. If a busy fortnight means you do not touch the piano, come to the lesson anyway — that is the moment most people quit, and it is the moment worth pushing through.Do you come to my home?
Yes — Rueil-Malmaison, Croissy, Chatou, Bougival, La Défense, Nanterre, Puteaux and Suresnes. You can also come to me in Rueil-Malmaison, or we can work online.Do you teach children?
From age 8, at the same rate as adults. I also prepare students for ABRSM exams, and they have achieved good marks. What if I need to cancel?
Give me 24 hours and we will rearrange. Life happens — I am flexible when something genuinely comes up.
